It's called the "lottery of penalty kicks", but no one can deny that Russia's triumph over Spain in punishment has nothing to do with luck. The Russians have scored four of their shots before goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev ends the deal with one of the best reaction stops you've ever seen.

Akinfeev guesses badly, diving for the shot of Iago Aspas directly in the middle, but he realized his mistake in the middle of diving and was able to block the shot directed with his foot. You can see Akinfeev's eyes following the ball on his way to the goal.
