liver transplantation is the theme of the two-day scientific event organized by the director of the complex structure of hepatology and gastroenterology of the Company Santa Maria di Terni, Mariano Quartini, and the head of the simple structure Department of Hepatology of USL Umbria 2, Maria Oliva Pensi. The event will take place on July 5 and 6 in the conference room of the Hotel Albornoz in Spoleto with the participation of national and international experts. In light of the new scenarios that are opening up for the hepatology, the subject is of great interest also in Umbria, although there is no transplant center. for the liver, because it allows to deepen an aspect of the health important from the organizational ethical point of view, also referring to the relations between the centers of transplantation and the peripheral hepatological centers.
The morning of July 5 (9h-11h30) will open with a roundtable which will also address ethical issues and all initiatives that may encourage donations to offer this therapeutic opportunity to an increasing number of patients on the waiting list. Participants will include Umbria health adviser Luca Barberini, director of the National Transplant Center Nanni Costa and the head of the regional transplant center Atanbadios Dovas, doctor (archaeologist) Fabrizio Soccorsi, the surgeon of Marco Vivarelli transplant, beyond that the representatives of AIDO and some transplant patients
The scientific congress that will begin at 11:45 (until 14 the following day) will see the presence of many Umbrian herdsmen and some of the leading national and international experts from 9 different transplant centers, who will discuss urgent transplantation indications, chronic decompensated cirrhosis disease and liver cancer, early and late complications of transplantation, and future prospects such as what's new in the field. preservation of organs to be transplanted and new indications for oncological transplantation. A separate session will then be reserved for a specific project to optimize relations between the transplant centers and the peripheral centers.
The two days devoted to future scenarios of hepatology will be closed in the afternoon of July 6 (15h, 40-19) with a satellite meeting in which you want to check the program. state of therapy for HCV, which in Umbria has helped heal several hundred patients, deepening the aspects related to the favorable impact that these therapies will have in the future also from the organizational point of view and economic and diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to be adopted in populations still exposed to infections, such as in surrounding homes and drug addicts.
