The Mets whip the Padres in one of their best season games

With a full display of attack, defense and pitching, the Mets are getting closer to a match to clinch a playoff spot by slamming the Padres, 6-3, at Citi Field Tuesday.

And Zack Wheeler, the subject of so much commercial speculation, won his second consecutive start by reporting two points and four hits in seven innings of play.

Wheeler (4-6) worked at least seven innings for a second consecutive start and fourth in six outings. He walked one, took out three.
