The young pope 2: Jude Law dies? – Magazine – Showbiz

Originally The young pope was considered an independent miniseries, destined to end with the tenth episode aired by Sky and HBO. In mid-October 2016, it became apparent that director and screenwriter Paolo Sorrentino was commissioned to produce a sequel titled " The New Pope ". Now we discover that John Malkovich was chosen to play the lead role, that of the new Pope announced by the title of the television series: what will become of the old pontiff, that is Jude Law ?

THE NEW POPE, THE TV SERIES
The details of the sequel are minimal: we know that Jude Law was confirmed in the cast, presumably to return to the role of Pope Pius XII. But the presence of John Malkovich raises questions about the development of the plot: in principle, to settle a new pontiff, the precedent must die.
