Among the two-thousand-plus attendees filling the seats at the Boston Opera House Tuesday evening was none other than Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen.
The couple was dressed casually — Brady wore a black beanie and cardigan — for the 7:30 p.m. showing of “Hamilton,” a popular Broadway hit that will wrap up its two-month-long stint in Boston on Sunday. The two-hour, award-winning program documents the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton and features over 40 hip-hop songs by composer Lin-Manuel Miranda.
After practice at Gillette Stadium Wednesday, Brady gushed about musical and revealed Tuesday night’s performance was actually his third time seeing the show.
“’Hamilton’? Oh, I love ‘Hamilton,’” Brady said. “Anyone who is here should go see it. It was great in New York, and it was actually really good last night. I loved it.”
The 41-year-old neglected to offer his own rendition of what he saw, but noted he told Bündchen he’d be interested in being part of the production.
“I did tell my wife [that] one day I would love to just be on that show for, I don’t know, a week,” Brady said. “But I would need a lot of practice.”
The “Broadway in Boston” Twitter account seems all for that idea, tweeting Wednesday afternoon: “If the Founding Fathers on stage need a reserve ‘Patriot,’ we’ve got the greatest of all time ready to GO!”
Captain Matthew Slater, however, wasn’t too confident about his teammate’s acting chops. Slater, who called “Hamilton” “one of the best musicals” he’s seen, called the cast “too talented” to be compared to him and Brady.
“[Tom] might have the rap skills, but I think it’s going to be the dancing that ultimately keeps him from being cast in that role,” he said after a hearty chuckle.
