After learning that his time with the Houston Rockets was coming to an end, Carmelo Anthony's representatives reportedly began contacting the NBA wickets to determine potential landing points for the 16-year-old veteran.
Yet after two unsuccessful attempts to find a long-lasting new home since his separation from the New York Knicks, a former NBA star has suggested to Anthony to embark on the future: call it a career.
ESPN badyst Tracy McGrady, who played in the league from 1997 to 2012, said on ESPN's The Jump channel on Tuesday that he thought Anthony should retire rather than seek a new team.

"Honestly, I think Melo should retire. I really do, "said McGrady. "I do not want him to go through another situation like this, and people are just uttering negativity about this man's legacy. I really think, because it did not work for the last two teams, that you have a career in Have of Fame, go ahead, let yourself go. "
Now, McGrady has a point. Anthony already has a career worthy of the Hall of Fame. The ten-time NBA All-Star has been a force in the league for years, from the beginning of his career in Denver in 2003 until his seven years with the Knicks.
Yet after a year-long stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder and his tough debut with the Rockets this season – a season in which he broke his career record in minutes and left the bench for the first time – it may be logical that Anthony simply call it.
Not everyone is able to succeed in the NBA in a secondary role off the bench, and it does not appear that Anthony can badume this role with a new team – especially after his performances in Houston this year .
If that's the case, maybe he should follow McGrady's advice.
At least this way, Anthony will no longer be trapped in the mud or become a scapegoat. He can leave the league with his head always (most of the time) high.
