Use of a rare offer sheet

The New York Islanders may use an offer sheet, one of the rarest things in hockey, to try to help their hole in the center of second line

Rarer than usual. a triple play in baseball, the offer sheet is interesting in the NHL that no GM ever uses. According to Elliott Friedman the New York Islanders might be the first team to use it since 2013.

A general manager told him "I'm going to bet my house that the Islanders are offering a leaf to somebody from Toronto. " It's kind of a small gesture, but in a desperate place, it could well be for Islanders.

Mitch went into a ton of details on the offer sheet last week. If you want more context on what it really is, you can check it here.

Let's say the Islanders offer the William Nylander leaf of the Maple Leafs. They can offer any type of contract, say seven million dollars over seven years. If the Leafs do not match, the Islanders will have to give up a first, second and third round. That's the standard compensation for any contract that is AAV is between $ 6,088,981 – $ 8,118,641

What makes the bid sheet a bit more difficult is that the Choices should be to you originally. Which means that it can not be a choice that you have traded. This poses a problem for the Islanders who have the second and no choice of Calgary's third or fourth round in this year's draft

This is an interesting idea and concept, but I would not bet at home , or even $ 20, that it happens
