The 25th anniversary event of the UFC will not be forgotten anytime soon. The main map of six fights of Saturday's UFC Fight Night 139 provided a bit of everything from the spotlight in the limelight to the historic performance in the co-star and the debut of the next big perspective of the sport.
Yair Rodriguez (11-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC) won one of the wildest KOs in UFC history during his fight against the UFC Fight Night 139, which Was held Saturday at the Pepsi Center in Denver. 14-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) with an elbow without a miraculous gaze in the last second of the featherweight fight.
Previously, Donald Cerrone (34-11 MMA, 21-8 UFC) set a new UFC record for the most wins. Germaine de Randamie (8-3 MMA, 5-1 UFC) has successfully returned from her 21-month dismissal, Beneil. Dariush (15-4-1 MMA, 9-4-1 UFC) broke his skid, Maycee Barber (6-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) shone in his debut, and Mike Trizano (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) remained undefeated.
After each event, fans wonder who will be the next winner. And with a new UFC action night in the rear-view mirror, it's time to get going, put on a pair of shoes from Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard and play the UFC matchmaker for the winning fighters of UFC Fight Night 139.
* * * *
Mike Trizano
Joe Lauzon
Should fight: Joe Lauzon
Why they should fight: Trizano officially ended the debate on the best weight of "The Ultimate Fighter 27" when he defeated his counterpart of the cast, Luis Pena.
Trizano, who won "27 TUF" and was called by Pena after "Violent Bob Ross" was forced to leave the reality show due to injury, managed to make a split decision and is still undefeated .
At this point, Trizano can now put aside the "TUF" chapter of his career and consider fighting at 155 pounds of more established UFC fighters. A real test of his abilities is in order, and Lauzon (27-15 MMA, 14-12 UFC) is more than able to provide it.
Lauzon lost his last three fights and was sidelined for most of the year after undergoing knee surgery. However, he will be ready to return in 2019 and confronting him with an unbeaten prospect such as Trizano should be enough to motivate the veteran.
Maycee Barber
Mackenzie Dern
Should fight: Mackenzie Dern
Why they should fight: The 20-year-old Barber stood up to the hype in her Octagon debut when she crushed her newcomer, Hannah Cifers, in a bloody affair.
Barber had largely worked with Cifers before finishing the job with a mbadacre of land and pound in the second round. "The Future" promises to hold the UFC straw weight belt and says she knows exactly who she wants in her quest for the top.
Before the bout, Barber had announced that she was going to call her undefeated countryman Dern (7-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC). She kept her promise after the fight and said that she wanted a jiu-jitsu feel after two previously targeted clashes collapsed under the banner of the LFA. Now that they are both in the UFC and winning, Barber said she still wants it.
The only argument against the booking between Barber and Dern is that a fighter should lose, and they apparently both have championship potential. To reserve this fight a few years and win on the line would make it even more significant, but doing it now would make a big leap forward while the loser is still young enough to bounce back.
Beneil Dariush
Olivier Aubin-Mercier
Should fight: Winner of Olivier Aubin-Mercier against Gilbert Burns at UFC 231
Why they should fight: After a difficult period in his career, Dariush managed to get back on track when he was right of the newcomer in the Octagon Thiago Moises.
Dariush beat Moises in a unanimous decision win, which earned him a unanimous decision win. He can now put an end to his difficulties and prepare to return to the lightweight category.
Victory over a novice opponent will surely encourage Dariush to pursue a more established enemy. Those who weigh 155 pounds are not lacking and the winner of UFC 231 match between Aubin-Mercier (11-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) and Gilbert Burns (13-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) is exactly in the wheelhouse of what Dariush should pursue.
Germaine de Randamie
Ketlen Vieria
Should fight: Ketlen Vieira
Why they should fight: After a tumultuous 21-month break since the Octagon, Randamie has successfully returned to the competition with an unequivocal win over former title challenger Raquel Pennington.
During the dismissal of De Randamie, he was stripped of the title of UFC Women's Featherweight Champion and the treatment of injuries. She returned to bantamweight for the fight with Pennington and made the unanimous decision to put herself in the title.
Although "The Iron Lady" may not be the most beloved figure because of her UFC tenure, she remains one of the best fighters in the world. She deserves to be among the biggest names at 135 pounds. A duel with an undefeated contender like Vieira (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) would help strengthen the rank order while champion Amanda Nunes breathless at featherweight against Cyborg Cris. in a champion fight against champion at UFC 232 in December.
Donald Cerrone
Justin Gaethje
Should fight: Justin Gaethje
Why they should fight: After setting a new record for the greatest number of victories in the history of the UFC, Cerrone seems to have finished with the welterweight division and intends to return to the lightness after almost three years.
"Cowboy" won one of the best victories of his career when he submitted an armband to Mike Perry in the first round of what was rather a grudge match. Cerrone now has the highest number of wins and saves in the company's history, and its position in the UFC tradition has never been questioned.
The future will certainly be interesting for Cerrone, however. For the first time in his history, he talks about winning the title and believes he can succeed from 155 pounds. The division has evolved since its last participation, and Gaethje (19-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) is one of the names that was not present. The former WSOF champion is arguably the most exciting fighter in the sport, and opposing him to Cerrone would have the potential for absolute magic.
Yair Rodriguez
Zabit Magomedsharipov
Should fight: Zabit Magomedsharipov
Why they should fight: Watch the video above to see why Rodriguez should fight against Magomedsharipov (16-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) after his knockout victory.
