Six young people for the "Brain your time award" an award in the fight against multiple sclerosis

BARI – Six young researchers received the "Brain your time award" for the publication of scientific papers or posters that have distinguished themselves in the field management of multiple sclerosis.
The latter is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that compromises the normal functioning of the brain, optic nerves and spinal cord, through inflammation and tissue loss. The evolution of multiple sclerosis leads to an increasing loss of physical function (such as the ability to walk) and cognitive (eg, memory). A severely disabling condition that affects more than 118,000 people in Italy (especially young people between the ages of 20 and 40) and affects around 2.5 to 3 million people worldwide, of which only 600,000 are in Europe.
The winners are Gloria Dalla Costa, San Raffaele University of Milan (first category of posters ranked); Pietro Iaffaldano, Aldo Moro University of Bari (1st category of clbadified articles); Federica Esposito, San Raffaele Hospital in Milan (second category of clbadified posters); Shalom Haggiag, San Camillo-Forlanini Hospital in Milan (second category of clbadified articles); Damiano Baroncini, Asst Valle Olona, Gallarate (third place poster category); Valeria Studer, C. Besta Irccs Foundation of Milan (third category of clbadified articles).
"Brain your time award" is a competition promoted by Aim Education, with the unconditional contribution of Novartis, dedicated to young specialists and specialists involved in the management of multiple sclerosis, chronic neurodegenerative disease. An international scientific committee evaluated the blind work, presented on the basis of their originality, interest and complexity, as well as on the following fundamental parameters: quality of the project, innovation, diagnostic-therapeutic adequacy, scientific effects and benefits potential for the patient-health sector.
