Naomi Osaka has mixed feelings about her latest project.
The 23-year-old tennis star shared the movie poster for her new Netflix docuseries on Friday, Naomi Osaka. The three-part series, co-produced by LeBron James, features Osaka on her rise to stardom after the 2018 US Open when she was just 20 years old. In a screenshot of a message typed into the Notes app, she admitted to being “terrified” by the documentary’s release, especially after recently making headlines for withdrawing from two major competitions, citing concerns for his mental health.
“It’s not like a tennis match where I win or lose and from there people can tell if I did well or not,” she wrote in part. “It’s a look at my life from certain times and I can’t help but the feeling of wondering how it will be received.”
Osaka added that the project is “in some ways my soul and a reflection of who I am” and hoped the project could be linked to others.
“I hope there are pieces that people can relate to and maybe other pieces that would help people understand why I make the choices I make. If not, that’s cool too, it took me a while but i realize i can’t please everyone and i really don’t try to do that. when i go to sleep at night i can only hope i am at peace with myself and hope the same rings true for everyone reading this i am excited / nervous for you guys to see it and hope you will ‘will enjoy lol. Love you all and stay safe, “she wrote.
Fans took to the comments to share their thoughts on the documentary and praised the athlete for its transparency.
“I love you I looked at you last night and it brought tears to my eyes. I certainly felt I could relate to a lot of things. It’s good to be at peace with you . You are beautiful inside and out, ”wrote one fan.

The documentary comes weeks after Osaka announced that she would withdraw from Roland Garros 2021 after announcing that she would not attend the competition’s press conferences to protect her sanity, which has garnered broad support. and an introspection on personal care, especially for athletes.
Earlier this week, Osaka’s influence was further demonstrated when she announced the release of a Barbie doll in her image, which sold out within hours.
“I really hope every kid will remember that he can be and do anything,” she wrote in part in an Instagram post. “It’s really seeing a dream of mine come to life, having your own Barbie and potentially seeing little kids playing with it. Omg.”
