The Ivy League is canceling winter sports for the 2020-21 season, the conference announced Thursday.

The conference is also postponing spring sports to at least the end of February and will not be hosting a competition for fall sports during the spring semester.

These decisions were taken unanimously by the Council of Presidents of the Ivy League.

“The Council will continue to closely monitor and assess the public health climate and consider policy changes where warranted in order to return to more normal operations on campus, including a possible intercollegiate athletics competition. spring, ”the Ivy League said in a statement.

Winter and fall sports student-athletes will not lose a season of Ivy League or NCAA eligibility.

In July, the Ivy League became the first Division I conference to say it would not be playing sports in the fall due to the coronavirus pandemic.
