The Milwaukee Bucks had innocent intentions by staging Saturday's "90s Night" for their match against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was an attempt to sell retro equipmentbut the mischievous celebration of nostalgia has inadvertently cast a terrible and ancient curse on their opponents. The Timberwolves are now dedicated to the Earth like Cassandra, and all thanks to Ja Rule.
The Bucks invited Ja Rule to perform at half-time, a decision that raises some questions about their attachment to the theme of the Night of the 90's. The man himself addressed it during his set, which was plagued by technical difficulties. In a viral clipJa Rule is waiting for his soundtrack to be installed and vamps: "They said it was the night of the '90s, so they released an artist from the 2000s." That's a good point! He then shouted, "Are we ready ?!", after some applause. The track does not enter the track and he concedes: "I guess not."
He finally managed the performance, even though it did not catch everyone's attention. The video shows Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo making training shots in the middle of the Ja Rule set.
Ja Rule is taking a moment for now. It's not necessarily a well when he recently appeared in two popular documentaries for his involvement in the disastrous Fyre Fest of 2017. His co-organizer for this event, Billy McFarland, is currently serving a six-year prison sentence for postal and telegraph fraud, but Ja Rule has never been charged. In January, he tweeted a vague statement that coincided with the release of a Fyre Fest documentary. "Me too, I was jostled, get ripped off, lie down, blink my hood, get lost !!!" he wrote.
The Timberwolves a little mocked the hip-hop artist Saturday with a tweet, but Ja Rule did not appreciate.
Curses are not a joke. Lil B sadly scored on Kevin Durant and the most valuable former player did not win any NBA titles until the rapper removed the hex. (Joining the Golden State Warriors may have something to do with it, but the curses work mysteriously.)
The Timberwolves can console themselves knowing that this curse is not as bad as it could have been. Ja Rule condemns them only to a 30-year drought, which is not that long for an organization that has never even attended the finals. He also insists that Karl-Anthony Towns is "starter", but the star center has just signed a long-term contract that keeps him in the team until at least 2024. Bizarre.
Nevertheless, Minnesota is in trouble and Timberwolves are doomed to eternity (or three decades, whichever comes first) unless excused. Ja Rule would never make a promise that he can not keep.
