PLANTATION, Florida – MMA Junkie was on hand and broadcast live the official UFC Friday on the ESPN + 8 hunter weigh-in, where the 26 fighters all scored.
In the main event, former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo Souza (26-6 MMA, 9-3 UFC) faces former Cage Warriors champion Jack Hermansson (19-4 MMA, 6-2 UFC) . Souza, who said this week that he was promised to win the title with a win, weighed 185.5 pounds. Hermansson was 185 years old.
Lightweight Gilbert Burns (14-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) was the last fighter in the two-hour window to come to the scales. He has only two minutes left and using the towel has earned him a weight of 156. His opponent, the newcomer in the promotion, Mike Davis (7-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) , totaled 155 points.
The first weighings took place at the UFC's host hotel in Plantation, Florida, and preceded the ceremonial weigh-in for fans, which take place at 4 pm. AND at the BB & T Center in Sunrise, Florida, near Fort Lauderdale. The same venue hosts the Saturday event, which broadcasts on ESPN + the following preliminary sessions on ESPN and the first pre-sessions on ESPN2.
