Jack Dorsey only eats one meal a day

The operation of two leading companies in Silicon Valley is undoubtedly a waste of mental and physical time. Recently, on the Ben Greenfield Fitness: Diet, Fat Loss and Performance podcast, Jack Dorsey, the billionaire CEO of Twitter and Square, explained how he could stay fit and healthy, and he was as weird as this to what you expected.

Dorsey had already criticized his advice on welfare, such as when he tweeted that people should go to Myanmar after a meditation retreat, thus minimizing the fact that the country's government is involved in ethnic cleansing. But on Ben Greenfield's podcast, he has just reviewed his own habits, without advocating that anyone else copy. Some of them are super reasonable and healthy, however: Journaling! Meditate twice a day! Vitamins!

Some things are just not practical for an average person, like walking five miles to work each day. Or alternate between a mini-sauna and an ice bath every few minutes over a quarter of an hour. Or work under an infrared light bulb because it makes you sweat and cleans your body of toxins (Note: this is actually what the liver and kidneys serve.)

But still, it's mostly benign. In particular, it is Dorsey's eating habits that seem extreme. During the week, he eats one meal each day at dinner. These meals consist of protein, green vegetables and dark chocolate or berries for dessert. So, it counts 10 miles a day with a minimum of calories and carbohydrates. And on weekends, he does not eat. As of Friday night to Sunday, he drinks only water, which means that meals taken once a day during the week make it indulgent. He described what the experience of fasting on a weekend is as follows:

The first time I did it, as at day three, I felt as if I had hallucinations. It was a strange state in which to live. But as I did the next two times, I realized how much our days were focused on meals and how … the experience I had was when I fasted much longer, how time really slowed down.

Just to be totally clear and not responsible: you should eat food. The food, in general, is good. And you should not try to disturb the need to eat for any reason, but most of all not to save time.
