Jacksonville Jaguars shade Atlanta Falcons on social media amid corresponding 0-2 starts

A 0-2 record hurts. And it’s especially tough for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have now lost 17 straight games since last season.

It’s the longest losing streak in franchise history.

Although only two of those losses were suffered by head coach Urban Meyer, Jacksonville’s 0-2 start gave the NFL rookie coach back-to-back regular-season losses for the first time in a streak. of three games with the Florida Gators in 2010.

After the Jaguars’ 23-13 loss to the Denver Broncos – Jacksonville’s sixth in a row in double digits – Meyer wanted to assure his new fan base that rebuilding the franchise remains in committed hands.

Jacksonville’s approach to responsibility has clearly attracted the Atlanta Falcons, who are looking to end a seven-game losing streak. The skid is Atlanta’s worst since Michael Vick missed the time with a hand injury.

The Falcons’ points allowed (80) and point differential (minus -49) this season are their worst two-game numbers in franchise history. Without a drastic improvement, Atlanta could miss the playoffs for the fourth year in a row, something the team hasn’t done since the 1980s.

It’s entirely reasonable for Atlanta to admire Jacksonville’s comfort to fans, but it doesn’t look like the Jaguars have welcomed the Falcons’ eerily similar message.

As the old saying goes: you can’t win them all, can you?
