Jaden Smith, son of actor Will Smith, will play a young Kanye West in an upcoming television show for Showtime, a network representative confirmed at BuzzFeed News on Wednesday.
No, your eyes do not deceive you. Yes, you read that sentence well.
The show will be titled Omniverse and has been described as a limited series of half-hour anthologies "examining the many doors of perception".
The details of the show are vague, but we know that the first season will look at "the ego through an alternative reality, Kanye West," according to the network.
West is associated with the project as executive producer alongside Scooter Braun, perhaps best known for managing pop stars Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.
In addition, Lee Sung Jin, who co-directed the movie Amazon Fact, will work on the project as a writer and executive producer. Other executive producers include James Shin and Scott Manson, who work for SB Projects – Braun – and Miguel Melendez and Smith for Westbrook Studios.
The pilot of the show, entitled "Singularity", was directed by Seth Rogen (Yes, that Seth Rogen) and Evan Goldberg.
We do not know when to expect this crazy show, but consider ourselves both curious and a little disturbed.
