The Buckeyes lost one of their best 2022 engagements as a cornerback Jaheim Singletary of Jacksonville, Fla. Lee announced that he had withdrawn from Ohio State. Singletary had been engaged in the state of Ohio since January 2. Singletary posted the news on her Twitter account on Sunday evening.
The 6 foot 1 and 170 pounds Singletary offers a list of scholarship offerings which, in addition to the state of Ohio, include Georgia, Florida, Clemson, LSU, Auburn, Florida state, Miami, USC, Michigan, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Texas A&M and others.
There have long been rumors that Singletary might opt out, but when he made his official visit with the Buckeyes on the weekend of June 25-27, things seemed to cool a bit on that front. But nonetheless, Singletary is no longer committed to the Buckeyes.
However, Singletary visited Georgia and then traveled to Miami over the weekend.
On the bright side for the Buckeyes, Ohio State defensive co-coordinator and defensive back coach Kerry Coombs, secondary coach Matt barnes and head coach Ryan day have an exceptional group of defensive back engagements even without Singletary.
The Buckeyes still have four defensive back commitments left 4 star corner half Terrance brooks of Texas, another 4-star cornerback in the No. 3 prospect in Ohio in Jyaire Brown, corner half Ryan turner and security Kye stokes both from the state of Florida. The Buckeyes have a 2022 recruiting class that is ranked as the # 1 recruiting class in the country on the 247Sports Composite team recruiting rankings.

Singletary is an exceptional cornerback talent with a great future ahead of him. But Brooks and Brown are doing just as well and those two with Turner give Coombs a line that could potentially be the two potential NFL first-round road draft picks Coombs is aiming for in every recruiting class.
The Buckeyes also have commitments from a talented Florida defenseman at Stokes who looks likely to get his first safe shot at Ohio State, but could also play the nickel or cornerback.
Perhaps the Buckeyes could replace Singletary in the class with another corner. Jackson tomorrow would be a great addition if Ohio State staff could pull it off. But with Brooks, Brown and Turner in the class, another cornerback is not a necessity. Adding at least one additional security is a higher priority. Elite landing security Branch of Zion or the other elite security they welcomed on an official visit in June Xavier Nwankpa is more important than adding another cornerback. And if the Buckeyes could add both Branch and Nwankpa, that would be even better.
