TV ratingAll our TV reports in one place. The real marker of a successful ensemble comedy is that any combination of characters can have a story. Of course, some duets have the most meaning together and have remarkable dynamics, but Brooklyn Nine-Nine is absolutely the kind of set show where you can match all two characters and get not only comic gold, but also generally a credible and deep emotional narrative. A bit like the episode last week was really focused on Jake and Rosa. The center "The Honeypot" is centered on Jake and Holt. Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher have perfect comic chemistry, and the episode speaks volumes about the difference between Jake and Holt, while reiterating that they work very well together.
The episode is full of truly classic moments for the two characters who are looking at the specifics of their personalities. For Holt, there is his "lento" drum roll, his barrel soliloquies, when he warns someone to have abbreviated a syllable and a word. imitate abbreviation office by "des", the fact that he says "Thomas Cruise" and "Home Box Office." As far as Jake is concerned, I like the little moments that indicate things that he just does not understand, like his "off" version of "tomato / potato," and the fact that he does not like it. he thinks that good practices in hiring consist of not checking references. until there is a problem with an employee. We are so immersed in this series that we know very well the characters and their personal brands, and we have the feeling that the story has almost no importance because as long as Holt and Jake are themselves, it's going to be fun.
Jake and Holt are working together to try to determine if the new Holt assistant has been set up by the commissioner to seduce and spy on him. All the comedy about Holt's idea about flirting is hilarious. Holt's rivalry with the commissioner has been a big part of this season, and the curator is a tough villain for the series. So it's funny to see Holt and Jake replace him at the end. The fact that Holt borrows a little Jake's thought while studying spy movies is a nice little touch that plays in their unlikely but very sincere friendship.
Throughout the episode, you'll find very strong and very joking montages, like the fast runner of Holt saying Buzz and Jake saying fly. Phil Augusta Jackson has realized, and he seems to understand what makes Holt and Jake a convincing duo. And I can not emphasize enough the quality of the links between Braugher and Samberg.
In plot B, Amy really needs to get into her element when she is asked to tidy the enclosure, which has become crowded because of overcrowding. As I wrote last week, it's a show that appeals to its characters who do what they like and love, and that's another perfect example of that. "The Honeypot" allows Amy to become her personality and the famous one while having fun to amuse her (she reads a magazine especially for the organizers).
And what initially seems to be a funny little plot about the fact that colleagues light up their fire (when Marie Kondo-ing the office does not work, Amy has to take more drastic action) ends up landing in a surprisingly emotional place that centers on a other interpersonal relationship. Amy and Terry have a really nice time after he confesses to her the real reason he clings to unopened braces. He still feels he has failed the lieutenant's examination, which garters represent. "Some things are worth hanging on," he says, turning the subplot into something much more meaningful. This show always manages to make a lot of heart at the table.
Observations lost

- Samberg, Stephanie Beatriz and André Braugher speak very fast, but it's so funny.
- Rosa's love for Trainee is all.
- "Are you saying literally ourl and haw?"
- Holt's dramatic pronunciation of "cameras" in the end reminds me of Jenna Maroney.
