Arrieta, who allowed three earned runs on seven hits in six innings, was not happy that Harper's blast led the Phillies to lose their game-changing stick for the rest of the game.
"Look, I mean, he must understand that we need him in the right field," said Arrieta to the press, according to Philly.com. "I do not care about the gravity of the referee. It was not good on both sides. I am trying to make presentations and missing calls. So what? We need [Harper] over there."
Carlson said that after the match, he had launched Harper for the comments he had made during the tirade, without however clarifying their remarks.
Harper, who earned the dubious distinction of becoming the first Phillies player to be ejected in nearly four years, admitted that he needed to keep a cool head in the future.
"I have to stay inside," Harper said.
