The boxing match between Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley takes place.
Paul, the award-winning YouTube star, will face Woodley in Paul’s hometown of Cleveland on August 29, it was announced Monday. The location will be Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Woodley is the former UFC welterweight champion and represents the toughest challenge yet in polarizing Paul’s young boxing career.
ESPN’s Mike Coppinger first announced the date last week. Paul vs. Woodley will be contested at 190 pounds. Woodley fought in the UFC at 170 pounds, while Paul fought Ben Askren in April at 190 pounds. Paul won this fight by knockout in the first round. Woodley, a close friend and teammate of Askren, was around Askren’s corner for this fight.
On the undercard, Amanda Serrano will face Yamileth Mercado. Serrano holds the WBC, WBO and IBO women’s featherweight titles. She is ranked # 3 on ESPN’s pound-for-pound women’s boxing rankings.
Paul vs. Woodley will be distributed and co-promoted by Showtime with Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions also in Promotion, By Release. Paul and BAVAFA Sports advisor Nakisa Bidarian will be the event producers.
