The world of social media can be a very negative place, so it’s no surprise that one of the most positive and generous players in the NFL receives so much hate.
Over a one-year period, Action Network was able to identify which NFL players received the most negative comments on Instagram between May 2020 and May 2021.
Using the total number of Instagram posts on each player and analyzing the rate of abusive comments and their likelihood of seeing those negative posts, Action Network highlighted which players received the most hate via trolls.
Philadelphia Eagles second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts landed at the top of the list, sixth overall.

This figure represents just under half the capacity of the Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field.
The negative backlash or trolling began after or around the time Howie Roseman and the Eagles selected the Heisman Trophy finalist in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Buccaneers star and Super Bowl champion Tom Brady was No.1 on the list, followed by Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Donald, Drew Brees and Josh Norman completing the top five.
