Free agent Jamaal Williams posted a farewell message to Green Bay Packers and fans of the franchise on his official Instagram on Monday, signaling an imminent departure as the legal tampering period opens.

Williams thanked the team and the fans and said he was going to “miss it all” at Green Bay.

The Packers re-signed Aaron Jones on Sunday, which virtually closed the door on Williams’ return.

From his Instagram post (unedited): “Thank you Green Bay for accepting me and allowing me to become the man I am today and still thriving. I have only RESPECT and LOVE for all those who work in the facilities of the Packers, the players, the coaches, all the employees who work at Lambeau and the fans !! I will miss it all, cherish all my memories and continue to strive for greatness. Can’t wait to see what lies ahead and can’t wait to grind for whatever I want, but nothing but loving GB, it’s been real ”

The Packers’ fourth-round pick in 2017, Williams produced nearly 3,000 total yards and scored 18 touchdowns in four seasons. He has played in 60 of 64 possible games, had 622 total touches and had no fumbles, while creating at least 400 rushing yards and 600 total yards over the four seasons.

Infinitely energetic with a magnetic personality and a versatile skill set, Williams was loved by his teammates and coaches at Green Bay. But with Jones back on a four-year contract and second-round pick AJ Dillon ready for a bigger role, the Packers are content to let Williams find a bigger and better opportunity elsewhere.

On NFL Network earlier Monday, Williams said he had “a lot” of teams interested in his services. He can agree to a new deal at any time over the next few days. The deal would become final when the league’s new year begins on Wednesday.
