The summer of 2020 has become a little more interesting with two of the biggest blockbusters of the year that have changed their release dates. Fast and Furious 9 repelled their initial April 2020 release date of almost two months, and James Bond 25 swept and filled the void. Meanwhile, Denis VilleneuveTo come up dune remake will try to pick up a serious dough at the box office with a release date for Thanksgiving 2020.
Get the full summary on the dune, James Bond 25 and Fast and furious release dates below.
Fast and Furious 9
First of all, The Wrap reports that Universal is changing Fast and Furious 9 from April 2020 to a much more crowded summer blockbuster window May 22, 2020. This puts him in direct competition with the mash-up monster Godzilla vs Kong, unless the studio does not think Warner Bros. Pictures will always meet this date. This weekend will also see the new SpongeBob SquarePants movie hitting the theaters.
This time Justin Lin is back behind the camera, and he brings Jordana Brewster Mia Toretto, brother of Vin Diesel, Dominic Toretto, and wife of Brian O'Connor, Paul Walker. How will they explain his return to action after his retirement to take care of his family?
A person who will not come back is Dwayne Johnson. He is probably not very enthusiastic about spending time with Vin Diesel, even after being crushed with the actor and planning to come back in the future. In any case, he has his own Fast and furious the film arrives later this year anyway.
James Bond 25
the April 10, 2020 release date canceled by Fast and Furious 9 do not stay empty though. The Wrap reports that James Bond 25 takes this release date instead of the previous Valentine's Day date in 2020.
In recent years, April has been dominated by Fast and furious movies but now it's James Bond's turn to start early summer with Daniel Craig returning in 007, possibly for the last time.
Cary Joji Fukunaga (True detective) will be at the helm of the 25th franchise film, but no details about the title, plot or other cast members of the film have been unveiled. But as production is expected to begin next month, we hope to get new details soon.
Finally, after amassing one of the most astonishing and starred casts of recent memory, Denis VilleneuveThe adaptation of Frank Herbert's classic novel dune will arrive on November 20, 2020, the weekend before Thanksgiving (via Variety).
The sci-fi movie (adapted in 1984 above) focuses on the battle for control of a desert planet called Arrakis. Timothée Chalamet (Call me by your name) takes the lead as Paul Atreides, a man forced to escape to uncultivated lands, where he becomes the rule of nomadic tribes residing there.
Dune has slowly added to the incredible cast over the past two weeks. Right now they have Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, and Zendaya on board the film. There may be some additional key roles to play, but the list is already impressive.
Production is expected to begin this spring in Budapest and Jordan.
