The production of the latest Bond movie was again delayed, after star Daniel Craig injured his ankle while filming an action sequence in Jamaica.

According to the Sun, Craig slipped and ran off and the ensuing ankle injury led him to be driven to the United States for treatment. Filming at Pinewood Studios in London has been postponed.

This is not Craig's first injury on a Bond set: in 2006, he had two broken teeth when he was making Casino Royale, had lost a finger on Quantum of Solace in 2008 and had a knee injury in 2015 when shooting for Specter.

The setback is the last of a long series of delays in Craig's fifth outing – and it seems final – as Bond. In 2018, director Danny Boyle retired unexpectedly due to "differences in creativity" and was replaced by Cary Fukunaga. A complete redesign of the script was followed by a series of writers, including senior writers from Bond, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, Paul Haggis, Scott Burns Z and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Craig's injury is not thought to affect the opening date of the film. Originally scheduled for November 2019, the film's release is scheduled for April 2020.
