Reflecting on how life has changed over the past 12 months and has affected his home life in Los Angeles, James said he’s known to work in the bathroom.

According to The Mirror, he said: ‘My new hobby in the pandemic is hiding in the bathroom just to read and write emails. I’m like, “I nibble in the bathroom, kids” and I could be there for 40 minutes reading and writing emails.

“It’s a miracle that my wife didn’t kill me or leave me during this time. Be honest. Who would want to walk a mile in their shoes? She keeps our whole family together.

James and his wife Julia Carey are the parents of their three children – Max, 10, Carey, six, and Charlotte, three.

He said: ‘I used to go with my mom to Weight Watchers when I was 11 or 12 and it’s the only thing that ever worked for my mom. ”

James added that his family are still participating in the new WW and doing a ‘Zoom Weigh-in’ every three weeks to celebrate if any of them have lost weight.

James told Oprah: ‘When I met my wife I weighed 20 pounds (280 pounds). When I started this on WW I was 236 lbs and now I weigh 220 lbs. I would like to live a day under 200 lbs. I will really try to continue in this direction.

To achieve this goal, James said he had to ‘change his relationship’ with food, saying he sometimes struggled when his kids wanted things he couldn’t eat.

The TV host explained how they went for pizza recently and he was gutted for not being able to eat it, but came up with a smart solution.

James said he and Julia ended up making a chickpea pizza that didn’t have a lot of cheese in it and ended up tasting delicious and left him feeling ‘satisfied’.

And ahead of Sunday’s Golden Globes, where he’s nominated for Best Performance in a Musical or Comedy, James said he’s keeping his awards in a closet.
