Christina Ricci’s husband is seeking a restraining order against the actress, accusing him of heavy drinking and domestic violence.

Heerdegen’s request for a domestic violence restraining order comes days after Ricci, 40, applied for a restraining order against him, according to court documents obtained by Page Six on Friday. His order has been granted.

In her order, according to the Daily Mail, Heerdegen claimed she would go into a drunken rage over him and their son Freddie. He alleged that she would have no idea what happened when she finally sobered up and that he must have checked Freddie’s bottles at some point while she was breastfeeding.

“This filing is nothing more than an abusive and transparent attempt to silence my client,” Ricci’s lawyer, Samantha Spector, told us in a statement. “It won’t work. Christina won’t be intimidated by Mr Heerdegen and his barrage of misleading claims – and she remains committed to protecting her family.

Ricci and Heerdegen married in 2013 and welcomed their son Freddie in 2014. The actress filed for divorce in July 2020 following an alleged incident of domestic violence.

Ricci applied for primary legal and physical custody of 6-year-old Freddie as part of their divorce. She also asked the court not to allow Heerdegen’s visitation rights.

In her own documents filed Friday in opposition to her claim, Ricci told the court that she believed Heerdegen had sought the order in retaliation for her order, filed earlier in the week and was unnecessary. At the time, she provided the court with photos of the injuries she allegedly suffered as a result of the mistreatment of Heerdegen, some of which she said occurred in front of their son.

She also included an audio clip from June 25, 2020, of an alleged incident between the two where, according to court documents, “James can be heard terrorizing Christina, spitting and yelling at her, admitting violence, following her around. into a room, chasing her down and then brutally assaulting her, before the recording abruptly ends and she cries that she calls the police. Shockingly, this recording also captures Christina attempting to keep the underage child – who is present – away from the climbing scene.

“It is expected that James will accuse Christina of physical violence against him for the defensive actions she took to escape his assaults on her,” the document read. “He may also attempt to portray Christina as admitting responsibility for their struggles to others. The above is to be expected in cases where serious domestic violence has not been controlled in a household … but there is no doubt in this case that James is the primary perpetrator and perpetrator of domestic violence who must be held responsible for his heinous conduct.

Heerdegen denied Ricci’s abuse allegations to TMZ earlier this week.
