Wizards of the Coast has called on James Ohlen, a longtime BioWare developer and one of the minds behind games like Knights of the Old Republic and Dragon Age: Origins, to run a new studio that the company plans to open in Austin, Texas.

Ohlen previously spent 22 years at BioWare before leaving the company last July. He has worked on a number of the RPG developer's best-known games, including some based on the Wizards of the Coast IP, as Baldur Gate and Neverwinter Nights.

The new, unnamed studio is expected to be based in Austin, Texas, and will develop games with a new, original IP address that Wizards of the Coast notes apart from the Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons brands. .

At the time of his departure from BioWare, Ohlen had indicated that he was considering "taking a break from the industry and working on something smaller and more personal," but his plans have changed over the past year. last nine months.
