James Paxton Needs MRI, The Yankees' Nightmare

Well, it had been a few days and the Yankees still had to hurt themselves.

James Paxton, the Mariners' major acquisition for the off season, was eliminated after three rounds in the left knee and will undergo an MRI on Saturday, the team said. Paxton worked during his three heats, scoring 64 shots including 32 for shots. He was fortunate enough to allow only one round undeserved, having loaded the goals with a goal in the second and third innings. Paxton left with the Yankees ahead 2-1.

Injuries have been a problem for Paxton, who has been on the injured list (then the DL) at least twice each of the last two years and once per season since 2014. Paxton, 30, entered Friday night after awarded three earned runs his last three outings, posting a 3.28 ERA.

The Yankees already have a group of stars on the IL. Aaron Judge, Dellin Betances, Aaron Hicks, Luis Severino, Greg Bird, Giancarlo Stanton and Troy Tulowitzki are among the players out of the game. Miguel Andujar must be activated on Saturday.
