Jay Kay, lead singer of the band Jamiroquai, was forced to deny participating in the Capitol riots.
The English musician took to Twitter on Thursday after noticing his name was trending as people mistakenly identified him as one of the rioters who breached security at the US Capitol building. Many seemed to confuse the two men with their similar headgear.
“Hello Washington, I love hairdressing, but I’m not sure it’s my crowd” he tweeted. “Stay safe everyone, J xxx.”
The 51-year-old singer often wears opulent headgear when performing on stage. As a result, some quickly believed he was among the rioters pictured breaking into the Senate Chamber on Wednesday without a shirt wearing red, white and blue face paint and what appeared to be Viking horns.

The actual individual has been identified as Jake Angeli, 32, a fixture at similar events in the Arizona area, also known as “Q Shaman” due to his extravagant outfit and support. to the QAnon conspiracy theory, according to the New York Post.

Angeli told The Arizona Republic in 2020 that he wears the headdress and the paint to more easily draw attention to himself so that he can get his conspiracy theories out to the public.
In addition to debunking rumors he was present at the unprecedented security breach on Capitol Hill, Kay shared a video of himself explaining more to the online community that he was not actually in Washington.

He then switched to his real British accent to explain to his followers that he can’t wait to go on tour again, but doesn’t know when that will happen in light of new lockdowns in the UK due to the pandemic of coronavirus.
