Janice Freeman, a candidate of season 13 on "The Voice", died Saturday in Pasadena, California, of an extreme case of pneumonia and a blood clot that went through her heart, a announced his family.
She was 33 years old.
Her family said she was complaining about not being able to breathe properly on Saturday afternoon and that her husband had practiced it.
He called 911 and continued to practice CPR until the paramedics arrived.
Freeman died in the hospital. Doctors believe that a blood clot has formed in his lungs, resulting in his death.
Freeman appeared on "The Voice" in 2017. She was selected for the team led by Miley Cyrus and directed by her.
"She finished 11th of the season but continued to receive a lot of support from Miley Cyrus in a warm friendship," said Freeman's family.
Cyrus helped Freeman financiallywhile battling lupus, meningitis and cervical cancer, which she had beaten.
"His immune system continued to remain depressed, even the common cold threatening more serious repercussions," said his family. "Throughout her journey, Janice has remained bright and optimistic, relying on her deep faith and willingness to live, while maintaining an active performance schedule."
His last performance was last week, February 22, for a non-profit gala in Kansas City.
Cyrus has published a tribute to Freeman. She subtitled a picture of a rainbow in her Instagram narrative, "Thank you @ janicefreeman … for everything. It represents you perfectly. "
Freeman is survived by her husband Dion, her 12-year-old daughter Hannah, her mother Janice and her brothers and sisters.
