Padalecki is currently appearing in The CW's Supernaturalwho is preparing for the first season of last season, his schedule will be free to make other projects.
According to Deadline, the project was written and produced by Anna Fricke, and produced by Dan Lin, and the CW would have already paved the way for the search for the series for its network.
