The Chiefs stepped up their defense on Sunday, agreeing to the terms of a one-year contract with Jarran Reed defensive tackle Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

The contract is worth up to $ 7 million with a $ 5 million guarantee.

Reed, who was knocked out by the Seahawks on Friday, finds Frank Clark on the Chiefs’ defensive line.

Reed, a second-round pick in 2016, has played 72 games in five seasons, up from 63.

He served a six-game suspension in 2019 for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, and he finished this season with two sacks and 27 tackles. In 2020, Reed had 6.5 sacks, 38 tackles, five tackles for a loss and 14 quarterback hits starting all 16 games.

Reed, 28, has 19 sacks over the past three seasons.
