Jarran Reed takes an interest in Bengals and Cowboys: NFL news and rumors

[ad_1]

Former Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Jarran Reed is now one of the best free agents around. And with the Cincinnati Bengals always looking to improve their D-line, it’s no surprise to learn that they’re interested in the peerless defenseman.

According to James Rapien, reporter for All Bengals, the Bengals and Dallas Cowboys are among the teams who are interested in Reed.

Reed, who will be a sixth-year player in 2021, was an Alabama second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played for the Seahawks for five years and had signed an overtime after the 2019 season, though. that he had only played 10 games the previous season due to injury.

During his five years in Seattle, the 28-year-old Reed played 72 games and recorded 194 tackles, 22 sacks, 22 tackles for loss and 58 hits. His most productive season was in 2018 when he had double-digit sacks and 24 QB wins, earning him a career-high 66.8 PFF score.

The defensive tackle is still a bit of a question mark following the exit of Geno Atkins, as DJ Reader comes out of a season-ending quad injury. The team signed Larry Ogunjobi, but it was only a one-year deal, so having another guy like Reed in the fold would be a major boost for the D-line in Cincinnati.

The Bengals recently chased Sheldon Rankins but couldn’t sign him, so it’s clear they want another body in the middle of this defense. Reed could very well be the best on the market as the 2021 NFL Draft draws near.
