Jarrett Allen reveals real disappointment after win over Hawks

After an embarrassing loss to the Chicago Bulls in their first preseason game, the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to take a positive step against the Atlanta Hawks. Despite the win, Jarrett Allen still sees plenty of room for improvement from the Cavs.

“The whole world knows how we played [Tuesday] and it’s not at a level that we want to play. It doesn’t measure up to winning a single game in the NBA, ”the Cavs big man said, via Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com. “We were disappointed with ourselves, with the way we played. I’m pretty sure that fueled the fire to come here and play better tonight.

In 28 minutes on the floor, Allen had 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. He also had a perfect 8 of 8 from the free throw line. He defied every Atlanta shot possible, even sacrificing his body when John Collins attacked the basket. That is the role of a rim protector, and the 6-foot-11-inch center meets the challenge fully.

Once again, the Cavs made several mistakes (21 turnovers to be exact) that can be attributed to their inexperience. Their guys on the rotation spent a lot of minutes on the ground like it was a regular season game. The Cavs needed to run, especially their young guns.

Ironically, the loss to the Bulls was more telling than the victory over the Hawks, who were without Trae Young, Clint Capela and Danilo Gallinari, in terms of the development of the Cavs. Next up for wine and gold are the Indiana Pacers, who will visit the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Friday.
