Jason Momoa has a hilarious response to celebs who don’t shower

After the big bathing debate in Hollywood recently sparked an internet controversy, Aquaman star Jason Momoa gives a hilarious response.

After the trend of celebrities sharing their controversial bathing habits went viral, Aquaman star Jason Momoa has made his stance on personal hygiene clear while doing the press for his upcoming film, Nice girl. Momoa first entered the scene in 1999 playing Jason Ioane on Alert in Malibu: Hawaii. However, it wasn’t until 2011 that he truly rose to fame after playing Khal Drogo in the first two seasons of HBO’s hit fantasy series, The iron Throne. Since 2011, Momoa has portrayed the half-human, half-Atlantean superhero, Aquaman (aka Arthur Curry), in the DCEU.

Celebrity hygiene has, strangely enough, become a trending topic in recent weeks, sort of sparking a debate about bathing in Hollywood. The conversation started when Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher told Dax Shepard that they don’t bathe every day, adding Kunis: “I don’t wash my body with soap every day.” They also explained that they didn’t wash their kids every day when they were young, which raised eyebrows from readers and, yes, other celebrities. On Twitter, Dwayne Johnson said he “the opposite of a celebrity who does not wash”, and shower at least 3 times a day. Other stars have taken their side, with Shepard’s wife Kristen Bell and actor Jake Gyllenhaal agreeing with Kunis and Kutcher’s more causal approach to bathing. Jodie Turner-Smith, meanwhile, responded by tweeting: “Before you even ask for a lot: in this house we bathe.”

In an interview with Access Hollywood alongside co-star Isabel Merced, the whole celebrity shower debate arose in the conversation. Momoa insisted that while other celebrities might skip their daily hygiene rituals, he prefers to stay perfectly clean. Momoa told the interviewer, “I’m Aquaman. I’m in King’s Water. Don’t worry about that. I’m Hawaiian. We’ve got salt water on me. We’re fine.”

Before Momoa returns to the water in Aquaman, his next film Nice girl is expected to hit Netflix later this month. Action thriller stars Momoa and Merced as father-daughter duo Raymond “Ray” and Rachel Cooper as they seek revenge on a pharmaceutical company that released a drug that could have saved life of his wife. Nice girl seems like a gritty, moving story with a lot of potential for Momoa to flex her acting chops – certainly a different direction than most of her fans are used to seeing in Aquaman.

After the massive success of DC’s Aquaman in 2018, it is not surprising that a sequel (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom) would follow soon. Although not much is currently known about the Aquaman sequel, one thing’s for sure: Momoa fans can rest easy knowing that their favorite celebrity is staying clean after splashing in all that salt water. It will be interesting to see how this ongoing celebrity shower debate plays out and which star is next to reveal their personal hygiene habits.
