Jason Sudeikis tried to thank ‘SNL’ creator Lorne Michaels at the Emmys

• Jason Sudeikis won his first Emmy Award on Sunday night.

• During his acceptance speech, he attempted to thank former boss Lorne Michaels (“SNL”) in the audience.

• But Michaels was not there. So Sudeikis teased that he was “gone for a dump”.

“Ted Lasso” co-creator and star Jason Sudeikis won his first Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series at Sunday night’s ceremony on CBS.

The former “Saturday Live Star” tried to thank his former boss, Lorne Michaels, who was seated at a table right off the stage – but Michaels was nowhere in sight as Sudeikis accepted the Emmy.

“I want to thank the folks at ‘SNL’. I want to thank Lorne,” the actor said, pointing to the table full of stars and current “SNL” teams. Then he realized that Michaels was no longer sitting at the table, where he had been seen earlier that evening.

“[He] has gone to dump now. Perfect, ”Sudeikis joked.

His arm dropped as he eyed the table grimly.

“He’s going to come home and he’s going to watch it,” the actor said. “He loves watching the Emmys at home. It’s good. It’s good.”

Sudeikis wrote and starred in “SNL” from 2003 to 2013. He is now executive producer, screenwriter and star of the award winning Apple TV show “Ted Lasso”.

Two of Sudeikis’ co-stars, Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein, also won Emmys for their performances in “Ted Lasso.”
