Jason Witten wasted no time deciding what to do after retirement. The 38-year-old will sign a one-day deal with the Dallas Cowboys when his one-year contract officially expires with the Las Vegas Raiders in March, ending his illustrious NFL career for the second time in three years. It looks like this time, however, he will stay, with Witten noting how he “gave it his all” and having now accepted a role to join the coaching ranks – at the high school level.

This will allow Witten to stay in Dallas – the school is located in Argyle, Texas, just minutes northwest of downtown – in a move that brushes aside speculation linking him to his beloved University of Tennessee. And his way up to that point was a bit of a twisty road, and one that included a stop in the broadcast booth (something he admitted to “suck”), so it stands to reason he wouldn’t be looking. to revisit this avenue or something similar after his second retirement. Witten noted a year ago that the decision on his future would be “quick,” but was anything but.
After discussions with the Cowboys and incoming head coach Mike McCarthy, it was determined there was no roster for him at Dallas, which led to him signing a one-year contract. $ 4.25 million with the Raiders.
