Jayson Tatum spoke up for Simone Biles on Tuesday after a radio host criticized the decorated American gymnast for withdrawing from the Olympic team final on mental health grounds.

The Boston Celtics star’s quote tweeted a clip of Charlie Kirk calling Biles “shame on the country,” among other things. He didn’t hold back in his answer.

“Is it so hard to be supportive and empathetic to what other people are going through?” Tatum wrote. “This is someone’s daughter and her health you’re talking about. I wonder if he has kids and how he would feel as a parent if someone talks about their kids that way. Because I would be DAMNED. Simone is a hero! “

Tatum is far from the only athlete to show his support for Biles following Tuesday’s events. Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns, former Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon and NFL media personality Pat McAfee were among the many who responded positively to Biles’ decision.

Biles stayed on to cheer on her teammates as the USA lost to Russia in the team final and won the silver medal.
