Would Sir want an integrated amplifier with teak cheeks to accompany his JBL L100 Classic 75 speakers? JBL is also announcing today the super-integrated SA750, whose aluminum faceplate and bulky control set are as retro as its iconic speaker.
The SA750 takes a nod to Arcam (also owned by Harman) to establish a Class G amplification base for 120wpc into 8 Ohms and 220wpc into 4 Ohms. Class G means the amplifier handles low level Class A signals but calls for additional power when the music gets louder.
Above the amplifier section is an MM / MC phono stage and a high resolution / MQA compatible DAC which can be powered by 2 x TOSLINK, 2 x coaxial, USB for removable media or the internal Ethernet / Wifi network streamer which supports UPnP and Roon load. USB for third party streamers? Spotify Connect? Tidal Connect? JBL doesn’t say so.
The presence of Dirac Live room calibration allows users to tailor the speaker output to better match the acoustics of their room.
The full functionality of the SA750 is rounded out with a 2-line “ orange ” front panel display, 3.5mm auxiliary input and 3.5mm headphone output.
Oh – the analog outputs would be 6 x unbalanced RCA pairs, but the single render image (above) which only shows the front panel suggests that the SA750 has yet to be finalized and more information on the specifics of its feature set will come closer to the expected shipment date of May 2021. Price? 3000 US dollars.
