The X-Men will meet face to face with their own allies when Dark Phoenix premieres on theaters, as the mutant team discusses the fate of Jean Gray and his immense abilities that threaten to change the world forever. And although Magneto is the champion of mutant rights in the franchise, it seems that Jean will push him to the end.
In this new clip of Dark Phoenix, a group of soldiers arrives at the Magneto Refuge for mutants known as Genosha. During a tense exchange, Jean Gray introduces himself and uses his increased powers to intimidate soldiers, which leads Magneto to use his own magnetic abilities for diplomacy. Both leave, and you can watch the duel in the clip above!
This is the second time that X-Men films have tried to adapt this scenario to the big screen, and because of the bad reception of the film. X-Men: The Final ClashThe actress Sophie Gray of Jean Gray recognizes the pressure she faces in this new film.
"I knew Simon [Kinberg, writer and director] I was taking lunch and he sits down and tells me that it's Dark Phoenix and I'm like 'f ***** k', "Turner told Entertainment Weekly. I know it's one of the most beloved stories of the X-Men universe and for Simon, to trust me enough with this great honor responsibility. And I want to do justice to the fans of the original story, and of course, a lot of pressure has been exerted, especially before. Simon would tell you this is plot B of the movie and he thinks it's the main plot of the movie. "
But this seems to be the end of the line for this cast, as Marvel Studios will probably restart the franchise under the MCU banner in the future. The cyclops actor Tye Sheridan understands this possibility, but he does not know what the future holds for him at this point.
"We have not had any discussions with us," Sheridan recently told ComicBook.com. "I do not know if there was an internal conversation, I do not know, I think this franchise has a lot of potential, it always has, I would love to see it go on." in one form or another, even though spin-offs and characters make their own movies independently.I think that's really something that should be explored. "
Dark Phoenix premieres in theaters on June 7th.
