Jeannie Mai’s fiance Jeezy provides an update on the Daytime TV host’s health after undergoing surgery for epiglottitis, a potentially fatal inflammatory disease.
The rapper joined Mai’s co-hosts on Thursday’s episode of “The Real” where he admitted it was hard to make Mai slow down – even recovering, but “she’s fine.”
“Thank you all for your prayers and support,” Jeezy said. “She is fine; she eats everything in the house. But she’s doing really well.
The Atlanta MC also explained that an abscess blocking her airways is what led to her emergency hospitalization and forced her to give up “Dancing with the Stars.”
“She started to get sick. She had trouble with her throat and we took her to the doctor and they gave her a steroid injection and she was fine, ”Jeezy said. “It happened again, and I just started to notice that she was having trouble breathing. She woke up one morning and got up before me and I got up and went behind her, and I saw her, and she couldn’t breathe. I grabbed her immediately, took her to the emergency room… they found something, but they didn’t know.
So we went to see another doctor… The doctor immediately looked at her and said, “You’re done with ‘Dancing with the Stars’; you have finished. It is life threatening and if you don’t fix it now you may lose your life. “
Mai, 41, herself approached the disease via a video recorded from her hospital room which was broadcast after her diagnosis.
“I am absolutely devastated that my journey on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ ends like this,” she said. “I found out that I had an abscess in my throat, where my tonsils and throat were so infected that they started to enter the rest of the areas behind my neck and behind my ears, which I had to have. emergency surgery, which is why I am here now.
