Tennessee is on the market for a women's basketball coach.

Holly Warlick is absent after seven seasons at work, Tennessee announced Wednesday.

Here are 15 candidates to watch throughout the search for Lady Vols, separated by category.

Brenda Frese

Actual job: Maryland Coach

Frese, 48, is one of the most successful coaches in women's basketball. She clinched her 500th career victory in January. Maryland competed in the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time in Frese's 17 seasons as a third-place trainer.

Maryland has participated three times in the finals four times under Frese, including a national championship in 2006. She is one of seven active head coaches to have won a national title.

Frese would be a difficult acquisition. She is under contract until 2021 with integrated extensions that will last until 2025. Baltimore Sun said its profit for 2018 rose to $ 1.19 million.

DOSSIER – In the April 5, 2017 archive photo, San Antonio Spurs assistant coach, Becky Hammon, shouted after a break in the first half of an NBA basketball game against the Los Angeles Lakers in San Antonio. This summer, the NBA hired its first born and raised head coach outside of North America, his first Hispanic-American head coach, and is perhaps as close as ever to having her first female head coach. Becky Hammon was interviewed for the Milwaukee Bucks position, and it would not be surprising if the Spurs assistant would soon have another chance. Becky Hammon

Actual job: Assistant San Antonio Spurs

Hammon, 42, breaks the barriers in the NBA. She has positioned herself to become the first head coach of the league. She has already held the position of head coach of the Spurs Summer League team, earning her a title in 2015. She is in her fifth season on the San Antonio staff. Greg Popovich promoted Hammon to his best assistant before this season.

Hammon played at Colorado State before becoming six-time WNBA player. She has never been drawn into the ranks of colleges – she would have refused a chance to become a Florida women's coach in 2017 – but maybe the allure of Tennessee could pull her from the NBA.

Hammon played for Tennessee Fury of the National Women's Basketball League in 2003, based in Knoxville. She scored 20.6 points on average.

Scott Rueck

Actual job: Oregon State Coach

Rueck, 49, was born in Oregon, played in the state of Oregon and spent his entire coaching career in that state. Tennessee could he attract it?

Last year, the Lady Flights looked closely at the program when the Beavers knocked out Tennessee in the second round of the NCAA tournament en route to the Elite Eight.

Oregon State is a No. 4 seed in the middle of its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament. The Beavers made four consecutive appearances in Sweet 16, including the only Final Four of the program in 2016.

Rueck is in his ninth season. Previously, he had led George Fox to an NCAA Division III championship in 2009, one of his seven appearances at the 14 national tournaments of Rueck as a coach.

He is under contract through the season 2026-27. He wins $ 631,000 this season, according to its terms of the contract. His salary will increase throughout his contract, to reach a salary of $ 879,425 during the last year of his contract.

Jeff Walz

Actual job: Louisville Coach

Walz, 47, is one of the best coaches in the country. Tennessee should open the strings of its purse to hope to reach it. He developed Louisville into an eternal power. The Cardinals made the Final Four last season for the third time under Walz.

Louisville beat Connecticut 78-69 this season in front of an audience of 17,023 spectators. The Cardinals competed in the NCAA Tournament for the eleventh time in 12 seasons and won first place. They reached Sweet 16 for the ninth time during his tenure.

Walz earns $ 1.48 million a year. His contract runs until 2025. He had to buy back the one-year salary for leaving his contract earlier.

Louisville Sports Director Vince Tyra did not hire Walz. He could therefore consider choosing a new boss.

High talents

Courtney Banghart

Actual job: Princeton Coach

Princeton is the only head coach position that Banghart has ever held and she flourished in that role. She led the Tigers to eight appearances in the NCAA Tournament during her 12 seasons as a coach. Princeton had never done the Big Dance before hiring Banghart.

Banghart, 40, has never been a coach at the university outside of the Ivy League. Her first academic job was assisting Dartmouth, her alma mater.

She was named National Coach of the Year Naismith after the 2014-15 season, when Princeton had 31-1 and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Also in 2015, Fortune magazine ranked it as one of the top 50 world leaders.

Lisa Fortier

Actual job: Gonzaga coach

Fortier, 37, is one of the best coaches in the country. Kelly Graves made Gonzaga an elite mid-major, and Fortier allowed the train to continue. She is in her fifth season as a coach after seven seasons as an assistant for Graves.

Gonzaga participated in the NCAA tournament for the fourth time in five seasons. The Bulldogs reached Sweet 16 in its first season as seed 11 before sinking 73-69 in Tennessee.

Fortier is from California and played college basketball in his home country. She spent her entire coaching career on the west coast.

Kellie Harper

Actual job: Missouri Coach

If Tennessee wants a coach tied to the Lady Vols, Harper is a possibility. She is also as salable as ever, having guided the state of Missouri to her first appearance in Sweet 16 since 2001.

Harper, then Kellie Jolly, was the popular Lady Vols leader for their three national championship tournaments from 1996 to 1998. She is from Sparta, Tennessee.

Harper, 41, is in his sixth season in the state of Missouri. She also led the Bears to an appearance in an NCAA tournament in 2016. She had a major success, having led Carolina West to a double appearance in the NCAA over her five seasons as the head coach for the first time.

However, she was fired after four seasons in the state of North Carolina after participating in the NCAA tournament in her first season alone.

She is under contract for the 2021-22 season and earns $ 247,000.

Carolyn Kieger

Actual job: Marquette Trainer

Kieger, 35, turned his alma mater into a force. Kieger was assistant for four years in Miami before taking the reins of Marquette.

The Golden Eagles have had several difficult seasons to begin their term before taking off. They made their third consecutive appearance in an NCAA tournament and reached the second round of each of the previous two seasons, giving the program its fifth and sixth victories at the NCAA tournament.

The 27 victories won by Marquette this season constitute a program record.

Kieger is under contract through the season 2022-23.

Tina Langley

Actual job: Rice trainer

If you can not get Frese, what about Frese's protégé? Langley, 45, spent seven seasons with Frese staff in Maryland, the last five as an associate coach.

Rice followed an upward trajectory throughout Langley's tenure. The Owls won the women's basketball invitational tournament to finish their second season before reaching the second round of WNIT in third year. Now comes the biggest success. Rice set a program record with 28 wins this season and made her third appearance in an NCAA tournament in program history.

Langley is from Alabama. She played for West Alabama and began her coaching career at a state high school. She has been an assistant at Georgia, Clemson and Toledo.

Veterans of quality

Katie Abrahamson-Henderson

Actual job: Central Florida coach

Although Abrahamson-Henderson has never been the head coach at a Power 5 school, she has proved at three stops that she was a winner. In her third season at UCF, she led the Knights to their first participation in the NCAA tournament since 2011 and their fifth bid in the history of the program.

The 26 victories of the UCF marked a program record.

Abrahamson-Henderson, 52, began her coaching career at Missouri State, which made three appearances in the NCAA and won a WNIT championship in her five seasons. She led Albany to five consecutive appearances in the NCAA for six years, before moving on to UCF.

She is under contract through the season 2022-23. His salary is $ 400,000.

Cori Close

Actual job: UCLA Coach

Maybe Tennessee will take the following approach: if you can not beat it, hire it.

The Bruins of Close eliminated the Lady Flights in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the fifth appearance in the UCLA NCAA in eight seasons. The Bruins have reached the Sweet 16 in four consecutive seasons, including the second appearance of the Elite Eight program last year.

Close, 47, is known for being a clever recruiter and a keen and offensive mind. The Close era had a difficult start with his replacement for Nikki Fargas, but the Bruins have won at least 22 games in each of the past four seasons.

Prior to becoming head coach, she was an associate coach with Sue Semrau of Florida State for seven seasons.

Close comes from California, so it is likely that the money will be a motivator to leave. She is under contract for the 2020-21 season and earns $ 475,000.

Katie Meier

Actual job: Miami coach

Meier, 51, has had a distinguished career at Duke, totaling 1761 points, but has been in a long-standing VAC school.

In her 14th season in Miami, she coached one of her best teams. They lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament, ending a season of 25 wins. The Hurricanes did not participate in any NCAA tournament until its sixth season, but this year has marked their eighth bid in the past nine seasons.

Prior to Miami, Meier had won 76 games in four seasons at Charlotte, including an appearance in the NCAA. His teams have never passed the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Meier is under contract through the season 2023-24.

Wes Moore

Actual job: State Coach of North Carolina

Moore has been a winner wherever he has been trained. His latest achievement led the Wolfpack to three consecutive seasons of at least 23 wins. N.C. State made his third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Tournament, representing his fourth candidacy in six seasons. This includes the subsequent appearances of Sweet 16.

Kay Yow made N.C. State one of the most respected programs in the country, but the Wolfpack was demoted before Moore's arrival and won the NCAA tournament only once in the six seasons prior to his hiring. The Wolfpack reached Sweet 16 last season.

Before going to North America, Moore, 61, drove Chattanooga to nine appearances in the NCAA in 15 seasons. His career began at Maryville College, Division III, 18 miles south of Knoxville. Moore earns $ 460,000 a year. His contract spanning until next season, so it is affordable.

Sue Semrau

Actual job: Florida coach

Semrau, 57, is in her 22nd season at Florida State, where she has accumulated more than 400 career victories. Although she has never reached the Final Four, she has had tremendous success. The Seminoles finished a fifth straight season of 25 wins.

The FSU participated in its 15th NCAA tournament under Semrau. The Seminoles participated in the NCAA Tournament only once in its first seven seasons, but once the program was launched, the process did not slow down. She drove FSU to three appearances in Elite Eight.

Semrau is under contract for the 2019-2020 season and earns USD 715,000 a year.

Wild card

Kara Lawson

Actual job: TV Analyst

Lawson has no experience as a college coach, but she has long been a name on the radar of Lady Vols fans, thanks to her ongoing commitment to the sport and for the UT.

Lawson was an exceptional guard of legendary Tennessee coach Pat Summitt, helping the Lady Vols play a pair of Final Four. She played 13 seasons in the WNBA and won an Olympic gold medal with the United States in 2008. She began her television career while she was active. She currently plays games for ESPN and is a color analyst for the Washington Wizards.

Lawson has been appointed a member of the UT Board of Directors in 2018 and she is one of three members of the UT Special Athletics Committee.
