Jenna Fischer opened up on why she got fired from the CBS sitcom “Man with a Plan” starring Matt LeBlanc.
During the last episode of the “Office Ladies” podcast, Fischer sat down alongside co-host Angela Kinsey to talk about her brief stint on the sitcom. The series launched in 2016 after LeBlanc, 53, had already achieved fame as Joey Tribbiani in “Friends” and Fischer played the role of Pam Beesly in “The Office”.
According to Fischer, she was first chosen to play LeBlanc’s on-screen woman on the show and appeared in a pilot episode. She recalled how the network had called for “more scenes,” but the situation changed after focus groups reacted to the television couple.
“They liked me, but they said – this is a literal quote – ‘I don’t think Pam would marry Joey.’ The chemistry doesn’t work between these two, ”Fischer said. “These are the comments they received. ”
“They could only see you as Pam and Joey,” said Kinsey, who played Angela Martin in “The Office.”
Matt LeBlanc starred in “Man With a Plan” for four years before it was canceled.

“Yes,” said Fischer. “So it didn’t work for them that we got married and have a family.”
Fischer said she was only informed a few days before the show was announced at a press conference.
“And then I get that call, and everyone’s on the phone,” Fischer said.
She continued, “The first thing I said was, ‘Is this [“Man with a Plan”] not be picked up? ‘ And they said, ‘It’s worse than that, eh.’ And I was like, ‘What’s worse than that?’ They said, ‘It’s being picked up, but without you.’ And I was like, ‘Wow, I guess I’m going to unpack my suitcase.’ “
Fischer added that she was tempted to give herself bangs after being banned from the show, but Kinsey stepped in to stop any drastic changes.
“Man with a Plan” appeared on CBS from 2016 to 2020 before the series was canceled after four seasons, TV Line reported.
