Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez were up all night chatting after the bombshell report from Page Six that they had broken up and on Saturday morning they released a vague statement claiming they were “working on some things.”
“All reports are inaccurate. We’re working on some things, ”the two said in a statement obtained by Page Six.
The statement did not specifically acknowledge whether the mega-stars, collectively known as “J-Rod,” were still in a relationship – or even still engaged.
“They’re trying to work things out … but it’s unclear if that means they’re staying together,” a source close to the couple said.
It wasn’t immediately clear what it was, but the power couple, who have a number of business interests together, figured out how to divide their vast assets, sources said.
The two remain geographically separate. A source told us about the duo on Friday: “He’s now in Miami getting ready for baseball season, and she’s shooting her movie in the Dominican Republic.”
An insider close to the stars added, “They’ve been separated and they often have issues that couples often have.”
The same source told us about the astonishing report that the couple were breaking up: “Could they change their mind? Page Six could be tasked with bringing them together. “
The stars, who have been dating for about four years, announced their engagement in 2019 but then postponed their marriage twice, blaming it on the COVID-19 pandemic. Lopez recently revealed that she and Rodriguez saw a therapist during their quarantine period.
The two went through a rough time in their relationship in the weeks leading up to the split, insiders said.
“For two weeks, they have not been together and in recent days, they were not good,” sources tell us. “They had some insane problems.”
A source adds that Lopez, 51, was “recently very upset on the set” of her latest film, “Shotgun Wedding,” which is filming in the Dominican Republic.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, is at home in Miami.
Sources exclusively tell Page Six that Lopez and Rodriguez were preparing to speak to their children about the separation on Friday afternoon after Page Six called for comment.
Lopez shares 12-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Rodriguez is the father of two daughters, Natasha and Ella, with ex Cynthia Scurtis. J.Lo also posted a photo on social media of his daughter crying and leaning on her dad Marc Anthony, with the caption “When they’re sad but mom and dad are here.” It is not known if the post was related to the breakup.
Meanwhile, Trouble in Heaven came after rumors that A-Rod had been FaceTiming with “Southern Charm” star Madison LeCroy. Sources close to the baseball legend shot the Post rumors last month saying, “He doesn’t know this woman.”
LeCroy, however, admitted the couple had “spoken on the phone” but had “never met” on Page Six. LeCroy did not comment when Page Six contacted her on Friday.
Sources close to A-Rod and J.Lo are adamant the LeCroy rumors did not spark the couple’s recent breakup.
A source told Page Six on Friday: “There were already problems, but Jennifer was really embarrassed about it.”
