Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah has followed Allen Iverson growing up, so it’s only fitting that he wants to play for the Eagles and after his recent professional day, the Notre Dame linebacker has broken down what it takes to play in Philadelphia.
“Speaking of the Eagles, I think I’m better than the other guys in terms of mentality,” he said. “The Eagles are a place that’s a gritty place. You have to have some ferocity with you to survive in Philadelphia. You win in Philadelphia, they love you, if you lose in Philadelphia, they hate you, then you’ve got to be able to handle that. And coming from my past even here at Notre Dame, there were a lot of situations that I had to persevere in and I think my mentality above all sets me up more than some of the other players in terms of Philly, in terms of my athleticism. . capacity, in terms of my physicality at the point of attack, my physicality in terms of block loss. I think I’m good at a lot of things, if we compare other guys, but in terms of Philly, I think that’s what separates me.
The Eagles haven’t drafted a first-round linebacker since Jerry Robinson in 1979, and they haven’t drafted a Notre Dame player in the first round from full-back Neil Worden in 1954.
Owusu-Koramoah, a Virginia native who attended Allen Iverson (Bethel) High School in Hampton, would be a perfect fit for an Eagles defense set to move on to a new schedule, as would Penn State’s Micah Parsons.
