Jeremy Pope from Hollywood at Ryan Murphy in Star Broadway Sensation

The buzz is intensifying with its new Netflix series The politician following the trailer of last week, Ryan Murphy began to launch his next show for the streamer, and several sources told Collider that Broadway sensation Jeremy Pope landed the main role.

Murphy joined Instagram in February to announce that his next series, Hollywood, "Would start the main photography this summer," calling it a "love letter at the Tinseltown Gold Age". Pope is expected to play a budding gay writer in Hollywood in the 1940s, and he will likely be joined by a large number of accustomed Murphy's, including Darren Criss (History of American crime) Dylan McDermott (American horror story) Jim Parsons (Normal heart) David Corenswet (The politician) and Joe Mantello (Normal heart)

Murphy recently told Time Magazine that his pose star Patti LuPone and Holland Taylor had joined the Hollywood casting, and sources add that Murphy will cast actors to play the legend of the screen closed Rock Hudson and twice winner of an Oscar Spencer Tracy. Netflix refused to confirm or comment on a casting.

"This straight-line production will be my third show for Netflix and I could not be more excited or proud of the work we are doing together," said Murphy, co-creator of Hollywood with frequent collaborator Ian Brennan. The two of them previously co-created Joy, Scream Queens and the next Netflix series The politician featuring Ben Platt and Gwyneth Paltrow. Murphy will follow The politician with Ratched, which is expected to debut on Netflix in 2020, with Sarah Paulson play the infamous nurse of Flight over a cuckoo's nest.

Pope recently made his Broadway debut Choir boy, in which he embodies a young man who is reconciled with his sexuality and identity, and also makes his musical debut on Broadway Not too proud: life and time of temptationsin which he played Eddie Kendricks, founding member of the Motown group. His peers noticed his work on stage and only elected him as the sixth actor in the history of the Tony Awards to be nominated for two separate performances the same year. Pope is represented by Gersh and Door 24, and representatives of the actor did not respond to requests for comment on Tuesday.

Per Time Magazine, Hollywood is expected to debut on Netflix in May.
