It’s far too early for the Packers to panic. Former Packers tight end Jermichael Finley believes the panic may soon be justified.
Finley was blunt following Green Bay’s embarrassing performance against the Saints regarding quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Previously, Finley had said Rodgers “looked tired” and seemed to have lost his “hunger” to play. Now Finley says the Packers should be prepared to pivot to Plan B, if it appears Rodgers lost him.
“If you don’t see it, let’s go to [Jordan] Love, ”Finley said.
Finley said Rodgers should have four weeks to show he still has it. If he doesn’t, then go with Love.
“You have one of the highest paid quarterbacks sitting right behind Aaron Rodgers, so you might as well use it and get him out for the future,” Finley said.
This assumes a lot. There’s no reason to think the Packers won’t turn things around on Monday night when their intra-division punching bags known as the Detroit Lions return to town.
Now, if the Packers look like they were six days ago in two days, Finley may be on to something. The chances of this happening seem very slim, however.
That said, the Packers are following their no-bye bye against the Lions with a trip to California to face the 49ers and a visit to the Steelers. At this point, a 1-3 start for a team with 13-3 back-to-back seasons is not out of the question.
