The Cowboys agreed to talk with DeMarcus Lawrence last week. That happened a week after an exchange against defender Robert Quinn.
The Cowboys still do not know if defensive back Randy Gregory will be available for the start of the season, but they are hopeful.
Their exchange against Quinn, however, has nothing to do with Gregory's suspension for an indefinite period, said Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. It was simply an opportunity that the team could not miss, getting a proven Dolphins pass for a sixth-round pick in 2020.

Quinn has already raised his fist at the national anthem, and the Cowboys have made it clear that the players will not show up at the national anthem. They are one of the few teams to have never protested against the national anthem.
Jones, however, does not expect this to be a problem with Quinn.
