Jerry O’Connell has been appointed permanent co-host of “The Talk”, replacing Sharon Osbourne after his racist scandal.
“It’s fun, and it works, and we’re going to have a lot of fun,” the “Stand by Me” actor, 47, said in Wednesday’s episode, which aired to mark his 14th birthday. marriage with Rebecca Romijn.
O’Connell is the first man to hold the full-time position, although he has been a frequent guest host in the past.
He joins panelists Amanda Kloots, Elaine Welteroth, Sheryl Underwood and Carrie Ann Inaba.
“Ladies, you have been so welcoming to me,” he told them on Wednesday. “I mean, I came here as a guest months ago, and from the moment I walked in, you’re just gracious, you’re nice, you’re fun, and it worked.”
CBS’s daytime show also shared the news on Twitter with a clip of their new host wearing a “Rocky” type costume on Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger”.

In the clip, which aired at the top of Wednesday’s episode, O’Connell happily greeted several people on the team before changing into costumes and getting bouquets of flowers to give to his fellow co-hosts.

Kloots, 39, greeted the newbie, saying on the show: “We’ve all loved getting to know you for the past two months.”
Executive producers Heather Gray and Kristin Matthews, meanwhile, said in a statement they were “more than thrilled” to have O’Connell on the show.
