“I started to have hot flashes because it’s so heavy and hot.”
Jessica Chastain’s new movie role may have permanently damaged her skin.
The actor, who plays the main role in Tammy Faye’s eyes, thinks that all the makeup they used to get her into character may have changed her skin.
“I think I caused permanent damage to my skin because of it,” Chastain recently told the Los Angeles Times.
“Look, I eat very pure and I take really good care of my skin and I stay out of the sun and all that. But it’s heavy.
“And when you wear it all day, every day, its weight on your body stretches your skin. I finally took it off and was like, ‘I look like I’m 50!’ She laughed.
Chastain recalled the grueling process of putting on makeup each day and said it took her seven and a half hours to achieve the look she wanted.
“I started to have hot flashes because it’s so heavy and hot”, Ava said the actor. “I was scared. It was like doing a long distance flight every day. Because if it takes seven and a half hours to put it on, it will take at least two hours to take it off.
“It was worrying for me,” she added. “I was worried about my circulation.”
It also didn’t help that Chastain had to play a very energetic character. By the time she got on set, she said she had “no energy left” because of the time she had spent in the makeup chair.
“These are most of the prostheses that I have worn,” she said. “Even the bronzer and foundation are so much darker, the lashes are thicker. The makeup gets heavier as she gets older.
Even though Chastain had a big problem with how long it took her to get into character, she said the whole experience was “good” because it was “for. [her] art.”
